We live in a culture that values hard work. Skipping out on sleep, chugging caffeine, pushing the limits and giving up the “trivial” are all lauded as signs of dedication, go getters and dedicated workers. Yet, this pace is not sustainable. It robs us of our health, our happiness, and our very lives.
Jesus says to us, come to me and I will give you rest. His yoke is easy and burden light. He is not a hard task master. He created us to rest, to be, to play, to enjoy the very beauty and things He created for us. He made rest a key part of the creation week, sanctifying the Sabbath day that we may always remember to rest. Rest in the One who created the world.
