Jesus told us that in this world there will be trouble (John 16:33). There is so much trouble. There is so much hurt, pain and strife on a global scale, but for many of us, there are also great afflictions on a personal, maybe even day-to-day level. Some of these are known – maybe you are fighting cancer, or are facing financial hardships. Others are silent – you may be longing for a child or find life so overwhelming that it’s hard to get out of bed in the morning.

But Jesus is compassionate, and loving, and merciful! He longs for our weary souls to find peace. He doesn’t just tell us of the trouble that is in this world, He tells us to “take courage, I have overcome the world.” Jesus understand pain, suffering and sorrow that is far deeper, greater and stronger than anything we can comprehend, and He longs to bring us comfort. He longs to hold us in His arms as we cry. He longs to be all that we need. He won’t say the wrong things or ask the wrong questions. He will bring true comfort – strengthening comfort.

Before you know it, your strength will grow and you will find God opening doors and giving you opportunity to comfort others with the comfort He has given you. Not only does this make love grow, but your strength and peace will grow as well. God longs for nothing less than to see you filled with peace, joy, and love. Let His comfort surround you today.
