Yummy Vegan Pizza

I LOVE pizza! I especially love homemade pizza.  I could eat it all the time.  Needless to say, I have tried many different pizza crusts and sauces, and this is currently the family favorite.  I hope you enjoy it! 🙂

1 Tbsp. yeast
1 cup very warm water
1 tsp. sugar
1 tsp. salt
2 Tbsp. olive oil
1 1/2 c. whole wheat flour
1 c. white flour

Mix yeast, sugar, and water. Allow to sit for a few minutes to get yeast activated.

Add salt, oil and both flours. Mix well.

Knead into a smooth dough on a floured surface. (I usually knead for about 2 minutes.) Or in a kitchen mixer.

Press into a large, floured pizza pan.

Add sauce and toppings.

Bake at 425° for about 15 minutes.

Pizza Sauce:

3 Very large tomatoes
1 T Dried Oregano
2 T Dried Basil
1/2 t Salt

Use a blender or food processor to finely chop or turn sauce into puree. (You can also finely chop by hand.)

Add tomatoes and spices to sauce pan. Bring to a boil and then let simmer for up to one hour or until liquids cook out.

If the liquids are not fully cooked out when you are ready to make your pizza, just use a slotted spoon and let the liquids run out.
